Over the past 20 years, I have

  • Helped to build 7 startups
  • Lost a million dollars in one business
  • And then made it back again

All of these things have taught me a tremendous amount about what matters in life, and what doesn’t. I don't focus now on how much money I can make, or buying things I used to think were cool. I've already achieved my goal: being an independent entrepreneur.

These are my new {X} rules for life:

  1. Set 10 year goals at least -20 years is even better

When your time-frame is short, it's hard to make good decisions. Give yourself time to achieve goals and enjoy the journey.

  1. Work on your why and connect it to what you do.

Think about what really motivates you and why. Articulate that and people will know why they should buy from you.

  1. Focus on who you can help, not how much you can charge.

Reviews and testimonials are worth more than anything. If you can make a real difference to people, income will follow.

  1. Celebrate being independent: you do you

We're all different, let's celebrate that. Don't try to be anyone else, but you.
